Jane is one of our longest-serving employees having worked with collectionHQ’s parent company, Baker & Taylor, since 1999. In her current role as Enterprise Sales Manager, Jane helps libraries to learn about the benefits of adopting evidence-based workflows to manage their collections with solutions from collectionHQ.
Jane lives in Keizer, Oregon, and supports libraries in the Western half of the United States, as well as Canada.
We talked to Jane to learn about her favorite books and what she loves about working with libraries.
Hi Jane! You work with libraries from across a huge part of North America. What is it you love most about your job?
It’s wonderful to be surrounded by books and readers all the time and I love that I get to talk to libraries about how collectionHQ’s products can help them maximize the value of their collections.
You must have witnessed lots of changes in libraries during your tenure working with collectionHQ and Baker & Taylor. What technological advances do you think are going to help libraries over the next 5 years?
I’d love to see drone book delivery and pickup!
Tell us about your happiest memory of the library.
During college, I listened to William Stafford, beloved poet, read his poetry at the Corvallis Public Library. Later in life, I actually got to work with him when Debra Frasier made his poem, “The Animal that Drank Up Sound” into a picture book. He was such a kind and genuine man.
We know you have lots of interests including reading, baking, and even canning food at home! What is one thing we would never guess about you?
I have 6 chickens—Sno-ball, Sunlight, Bab, Kathryn, Audrey, and Redneck. They’re so cute, and they make me laugh, especially when they come running to get their food.
Finally, if you could choose one book to live in, what would it be?
The Wild Lavender Bookshop. I love the small town, the characters that feel like friends, and the bookstore!
