Data Extraction
For EBSM to work, access to detailed collection use information from the library’s ILS/ LMS on a regular monthly basis is required. This information must include details for all current holdings, including information on last use date and number of uses. Typically the information will be available within a MARC21 formatted extract file, which will normally be a standard tool within many ILS/LMS systems.
Once data has been successfully extracted, it needs to be stored separately for each month – with each month’s data accessible to standard database query tools. This is required in order that the EBSM tools can analyze data over a period of time.
